Wenger Wants to Sign Midfielder
Arsène Wenger wants Arsenal to sign a midfielder on the summer free transfer. He has reportedly offered Oguzhan Ozyakup, the former player for Academy, a big contract in an effort to entice him back to The Emirates. The 25-year old player is reaching the end of his contract at Besiktas, the Turkish giant, and is able to start talking about a move in the summer.
A Firm Offer Has Been Made
Arsenal has long been linked with an interest in signing the midfielder, who, as those who enjoy the sports betting NZ has to offer will remember all too well, spent a promising four years at The Emirates as a youth player. Aksam is, however now reporting that a real offer has been made and talks have begun.
Reports state that Wenger has had personal conversations with Ozyakup about his making a return to north London, and that he is taking incredible transfer offers into consideration. Ozyakup is captain of Besiktas, but his form has experienced a dip recently, with insiders saying that it’s the offer from Arsenal that has turned his head. Reports remain consistent in that Ozyakup is very seriously considering linking up once more with Wenger in the Premier League. He has 6 months to go on his deal.
Arsenal Dealt Another Blow
Faltering Arsenal has just been dealt another blow after it was established that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be able to play for them in the Europa League this season. The Gunners had feverishly hoped that their £56 million January signing would be permitted to represent his new team when the competition begins as he has only previously featured in the Champions League with Dortmund.
Under regular circumstances he would be able to play in the contest, since he is not cup-tied, at least in the traditional sense, having not kicked a Europa League ball. But, thanks to Dortmund dropping into the competition after they got knocked out of the Champions League group stages, Aubameyang is ineligible to play for Arsenal in case they get a game against his former squad. This must be worse than having underdog status, as he has been benched with no other options.
More Bad News
Alexandre Lacazette has been ruled out of play for between 4 and 6 weeks after his knee surgery. The forward from France arrived from Lyon in the summer for £46.5 million, and has so far scored a total of 9 goals in his 33 appearances -but only 1 in his last 13 matches.
Having lost his spot to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Lacazette looked likely to start in the Europa League on Thursday against Ostersunds were he fit. This looks like Danny Welbeck is going to lead the line in Sweden. A club statement revealed that striker Lacazette had undergone an arthroscopy on his left knee in London, that the procedure was successful, and his rehabilitation needs to be undergone.
Lacazette was criticised by Arsenal supporters over his display against their rivals from north London on Saturday after he spurned a chance to level the game during stoppage-time.
