So it has come to it. The long debate of when will Arsenal sign a combative midfielder like Gilberto or Viera. We have not seen the likes of them since they departed and it has been a gap that has caused problem season after season. In a transfer window, when if we are honest, we won't sign a big name it has come down to a battle between these two. Flamini and Coquelin.
Some will argue that Flamini is the obvious choice. He brings experience, passion and the crazy streak you want to just put a fear in the opposition as he wonders if his leg will be broken today. But this season something has not been right. Flamini has been found wanting and critics have been quick to point out his flaws.
Coquelin on the other hand was on loan at Charlton, and when he was recalled because of Arsenal's injury crisis, fans were quick to take to the picket line. And who can blame them. Coquelin was thought to be at the end of his Arsenal career having not been able to make the grade. But since his return he has been superb. He has grabbed his chance with both hands. Who knows what will happen. But what do you think?

Ask yourself, would either of these players make it into any of the other top 4's sides. Or even the top 10 for that matter. The 23 year old has time to develop and even learn from Flamini who at age 30 might just be on his way out.
