Arsene Wenger admitted he was delighted with Aaron Ramsey’s continued sensational form following the Welshman’s latest man of the match performance. The midfielder scored twice in the 3-0 victory against his former club Cardiff City, taking the 22-year old’s tally to 15 goals in all competitions this season, but more importantly extending Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League table.
After receiving a warm reception from the Cardiff fans at the start of the game, Ramsey soon reminded the home fans just why they were so upset to see him leave. The Welshman continued to cement himself as this season’s best player, not to mention shorten his odds with Betfair to finish as this year’s Golden Boot winner, adding to his first half goal with his second in the dying minutes of the game.
Wenger was full of praise for his in-form midfielder, admitting Ramsey had handled the pressure of playing at his former club much better than he would have done
earlier in his career.
"I think that two or three years ago he wasn't capable of playing just his game,” said the Arsenal manager.
"Everyone was impressed by the occasion, so it just shows you how mature he is now. He just came here today, played his game as he does usually and scored two great goals."
While there are plenty of reasons why Arsenal currently find themselves atop the Premier League and right in the mix with the football betting to win this year’s title, Ramsey’s form since the beginning of the season has been key to why the club find themselves in such a strong position heading into Christmas. But a lot can change over the festive period, and the Betfair odds may look a lot different at the start of 2014.
