Time To Dig Deep

Bottom line is Arsenal just were not good enough yesterday. Some of you will say but we have so many injuries and suspensions that things would have been different had we had a full squad. Fair enough but the fact remains that we probably still would have taken 3. We have dropped off the pace of the likes of City and United by some way. You may argue that City can just buy who they want, but Arsenal should never have let themselves fall this far behind.

Transfer News

As we go into the last week of the transfer window still no big deals have been done. The search for a centre back continues although it is rumored we are close to finalising a move for Gary Cahill and have agreed personal terms but not a price as yet. Although it looked a certainty that Bendtner would go he still hasn't left, sadly, but he may be included in the deal for Gary Cahill.

Transfer Talk-Center Back

Wednesday was a big night for Arsenal with their triumph over Udinese to earn a spot in the Champions League group stage. This berth comes with a payout of £25 million and enormous prestige that should help Arsene Wenger as he works to strengthen the squad in the remaining seven days of the transfer window. On Tuesday I looked at some options on how to bolster Arsenal’s central midfield after the loss of Cesc Fabregas. With Samir Nasri now a member of Sheikh Mansour’s mercenaries it is even more important that reinforcements are brought in to the club.

Transfer Talk-The Central Midfield

After Saturdayʼs disappointing loss at the Emirates to Liverpool, I think it has become obvious to everyone, including Arsene Wenger, that the squad has deficiencies that need to be addressed before the transfer window ends on August 31. In my view, Arsene Wenger needs to buy 3-4 players before the end of the window to address the holes in the squad created by lack of depth and injury at center back, left back, center midfield and striker.

Keep The Faith

Right Guns there has been a lot of anger and frustration at Arsenal for the lack of trophies and more importantly that lack of ambition, bu what we have to remember is that we need to keep the Faith. Even when times look grim what makes our club so great is the faith and support of us fans. So boys and girls take a look at this Video by a Super Gunner Danny Graft and just have faith people...

More Concerns for Arsenal...Where has all the money gone?

Arsenal are Thin…Far too Thin

Last night saw us Guns secure a 1-0 win against Udinese in the first leg of our Champions league qualifier. It was a shaky performance and we were lucky to keep a clean sheet, but for me Szczensy was a standout and my man of the match. The only positive I can draw from this is that we were able to keep a clean sheet and did not concede that dreaded away goal, now that would have been a disaster. But what has come to light or should I say last night basically shone a spotlight on it, is how thin our squad is.

Will Cesc be remembered as an Arsenal great ?

We all knew it was bound to happen, but even when it did my normally hard Arsenal heart did break a little; there are none of us at Arsenal who will not miss Cesc as he leaves for Barcelona. The fact is he is a great player and I am sure he will recover from those ‘injuries’ now that he is back at his boyhood club. Those thieves Barcelona who I hate with a passion have finally got their man. There is no doubt Cesc was a good servant, but will he be remembered as a great?

Fabregas and Nasri set to leave

So our skipper and the greedy Frenchman look as though they will defiantly be on their way out of Arsenal and it is only a matter of when. Fabregas we all know has been “injured” for some time now and has been in talks with the club and Arsene Wenger, Barcelona officials claim that it is only a matter of hours until the deal is done. As for Nasri, it seems Man City are going to get their man and even though we agreed his pay rise to 110 a week he still wants more. And now after a fight with Arsene Wenger it seems he is willing to let the player go to City for a Fee Around 25 Million pounds.

Get Me a Defender Now

Ok so Arsenal lost over the weekend….big surprise considering the poor caliber that we bought onto the field when we were looking so promising. For me Gervinho has been very impressive and young Ramsey, good on you mate, you really are improving with every game, but I am not here to talk about any of that. I’m not here to talk about how Van Persie is made of glass and that Rosicky and Squillaci may possibly be the worst players to ever wear the Arsenal jersey and this includes Gus Caesar who joined Arsenal back in 1982. What I am here to talk about, is how badly we need a defender and there is no one on the planet who can argue with that.

How should Arsenal’s midfield shape up next year?

The structure of Arsenal’s midfield could be vastly different come the first game of the season against Newcastle to that of last year. The futures of Nasri, Fabregas, Eboue (although nobody will lose any sleep if he leaves) and possibly Arshavin will be decided soon. Barcelona continues their yearly pursuit of Fabregas and it looks to continue into the rest of the market as the clubs continue to battle over negotiations. In my opinion Arsene should let Fabregas go for anything north of £35million. Despite being Arsenal’s best player for the last few seasons we don’t want a distracted uninterested player in the team this year. In the open training session he didn’t look at ease with himself and looked as if he had just come off the island of Lost.

Who Arsenal should sign in defence

Peter Hill Wood and Arsene Wenger have come out recently expressing that Arsenal would be conducting their transfers behind closed doors. Therefore despite little snippets of leaked information all we can do at this moment is speculate about the comings and goings of the club.

The Order Has Been Put Forward…

As I last left off, touching slightly on the issue of Cesc Fabregas, it has been reported that Arsene Wenger has given the ok for the Spanish midfielder to be sold. For the right price I would imagine. This has become a pain in the ass for the club and its supporters for two years now. A European rivalry has formed with Barcelona.

A Bar Fighter and a Spanish Ballerina

So Joey Barton once again has shown his distaste for his Newcastle employers and it looks like he will be let go on a free. It seems that Newcastle has had enough from the brawling Geordie, but I think I am still liking the idea of Arsenal snapping him up. On the other front I am hoping that it is only a Mata of time until we sign the Spanish ballerina, I feel along with all guns that he will be a great asset to us…

Next No.4 @ Camp Nou?

Some Barca Fan trying to be funny..translated: but Cesc is very comfortable here at Arsenal

My new employer @football101blog has often quoted goal.com, although he does state that they are not to be trusted (but what rumors can you really trust),that I don't know, so I need to go there always to check on Arsenal-related news. I like to look at 'goal' too anyways. Something drove me there some days ago and it was something about Cesc and Alcántara, after I saw the link on Twitter.
