A question that Gunners fans will be asking as rumours surface that they have signed their first big signing Ricardo Alvarez? Velez Sarsfield sporting director Christian Bassedas has admitted his side are powerless to keep midfielder Ricky Alvarez, but that’s not all that has been said…
At 23 the Alvarez is considered to be one of the most promising players in Argentina, and his exploits have drawn admiring glances all over Europe. Arsenal have been linked with him for some time, and it is said to be that the Guns are leading the race to sign the player.
However with player being hunted by a number of teams including Palermo in Italy, the club president Maurizio Zamparini had this to say: "We were interested in Alvarez, we were very close to him in January.”
"We lost him due to our mistake and I know that he has already signed for Arsenal."
If this is true then Arsene Wenger could have signed his first player, what great news this would be he is a class player, tall and full of technical ability. This will show we are headed in the right direction. With Gervinho close to completing a deal and Samba and Cahill in the pipelines things are looking good.
Cesc Fabregas seems to also be going nowhere, now all we need is that little greedy Frenchman Nasri to sign and Arsenal will be looking like title contenders again. With teams like, Liverpool, City, Chelsea and United all spending and ready to spend we will need to make sure we have a team that will be equipped with the players to challenge.
Things are looking up, Keep the Faith…..and let’s make some of these signings official.
